On May 12, Center for Political Education, Mykolayiv Research and Analytical Center under the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (UK) hold the round-table meeting "Does Mykolayiv community trust their local authorities?" in Mykolayiv, Ukraine.
The round-table meeting has the goal to present the results of the study of the main aspects of citizen participation in policy making at the local level in Mykolayiv region. The study was undertaken by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology under the support of the Westminster foundation for Democracy. The study certified that more than half of the population of Mykolayiv region think their life has became worse for the last year. In Mykolayiv region the level of trust to the most part of civic institutions, and firtst of all to the local government bodies is low. Also the majority of ingabitants of the region think they cannot influence upon the government decisions of any level in any way.
The meeting will be taken on May 12, 2006, in the premise of the Olexandriysky Business Center at the address Nikolska Str., 25, Mykolayiv. The round-table meeting is starting at 12:00, the registration of participants will be opened at 11.30. The meeting is planned to 2 hours.
Representatives of active non-governmental organizations, local authorities, experts, and mass-media are kindly invited to the participation in the meeting. The participants from the Mykolayiv region will be reimbursed their expenditures in case of the tickets availability.
